We’re not jealous, we’re not jealous at all.

A 20-year old man from Sligo and his girlfriend have earned a place amongst the final 50 candidates for a dream job in Cancun in Mexico that pays a cool $10,000 a month (approximately €8,300).

Now that Koray McGowan and his girlfriend, Zaneta Stehlikova, have made the top 50 in the Cancun.com Dream Job Competition, they’ll be hoping to go one better and make the shortlist of 10 for the job of CEO – Cancun Experience Officer – for Cancun.com

The overall prize will see the winner be in control of all creative content creation for six months for Cancun.com, living in luxury villas and resorts in the very popular location of Cancun in Mexico.

If Koray and Zaneta make the top 10, they’ll be flown to Cancun along with the other shortlisted candidates to take part in what Koray describes as “some of the craziest stuff ever”.

Koray and his mother Jacinta joined Ryan Tubridy on his RTÉ Radio One show to talk about the competition on Friday morning and to drum up support from the Irish public to help them make the top 10.

To make the top 50, Koray and Zaneta recorded a short video of their hometown, showcasing what is special and unique about Sligo; a video which caught the eye of competition organisers.

“We saw the videos go up and they were all old-school style, documentary type, stuck on a tripod. So we knew we definitely had a unique style… we went kayaking,” Koray told Tubridy.

Koray also appealed to the Irish public to participate in the public vote that will determine the final ten candidates, who will be announced on 17 January; voting closes on 13 January.
