This ruling is sure to p*ss off a lot of female drivers, but a judge in Spain has said women were without a doubt worse drivers than men.
It’s a debate that has been raging since the dawn of automobiles, but according to Judge Javier Albar from the northern Spanish town of Zaragoza, men are better drivers than women. Fact.
The ruling came about after Judge Albar was asked to make a decision on a discriminatory case brought against a driving school in Zaragoza that had offered cheaper lessons to male drivers.
According to the Telegraph the offer, which was originally made in November 2011, advertised a deal where male learners aged between 18-22 could get as many classes as necessary to pass their driving test for €665.
However, the same deal cost €850 for female drivers and after a string of complaints the driving school was fined €4,000 for sexual discrimination.
So the school appealed the case, which was brought before Judge Albar this week, and in his ruling the judge used statistics from Spain’s Directorate of Traffic which he said prove “every single year, men displayed greater dexterity and better open road skills [than women].”
Spain’s Women’s Institute are now planning on taking the matter to the Constitutional Court.
