Style Icon: Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper was recently voted the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine. We'd like to think it's just his style and we could all aspire to something similar... but, y'know.

JOE

It’s hard to argue with, officially, the sexiest man on earth. See, the fine folk at People Magazine recently voted Bradley Cooper the biggest ride on this here round planet we live on. But his beginnings were far humbler than that and The Hangover star even dabbled with presenting a travel show for a while – so he could’ve been the American Craig Doyle…

While he popped up in the likes of Wedding Crashers and the popular TV show, Alias, opposite Jennifer Garner, Cooper didn’t find true global fame until he hit Vegas with the lads in The Hangover. That trailer with him uttering the now immortal words “we f**ked up” while rocking a pair of Ray-Bans and looking suitably worse for wear was a huge selling point for a comedy that would go on to be one of the biggest of all time.

Cooper, though, like most popular leading men, isn’t perfect looking and it’s those imperfections that make him a movie star. Getting the ladies on board is one thing – Ashton Kutcher does that – but getting guys to pay for tickets to your movies also means you have be relatable and, well, not annoying.

If you wanted to know why Kutcher, Orlando Bloom or Jude Law aren’t headlining action flicks, or guy-aimed comedies, then there’s your reason right there.

For as old school handsome as Cooper is, he doesn’t dress like a product of his time or attempt to be “fashion forward” and set trends. Instead he just wears the hell out of suits; rocking the conventional look with utter aplomb – there will be no horrific red carpet pictures popping up and embarrassing the natives in a few years.

If you ask most guys what kind of shape they’d like to be in, they’ll throw out a Cooper or a Ryan Reynolds as top choices; but delve for realism and they’ll tell you they just want to look good in a fitted t-shirt. In Hollywood at the moment, no one looks better.

You’ll next see Bradley Cooper in The Silver Linings Playbook, which opens this week.
