We’re not sure whether he prefers to be called German or Irish, so we’ll just call him stylish

Michael Fassbender is an actor that has been taking Hollywood by storm, and is all over the place right now thanks to his role in the critically acclaimed 12 Years a Slave and the very controversial Shame a few years back.

Not only does his resume look pretty good, but he does too, thanks to a very sharp sense of style. Obviously, we see him a lot at premieres sporting suits that fit perfectly, but importantly draw from a colour palette that he knows suits him well. Despite being very fair, he wears a lot of black, which contrasts with his skin tone.

In the formal suit he’s wearing at the premiere of 12 Years a Slave in the first picture above is one that’s simple and classic, but a touch of detail and texture is added with a pocket square. It’s not too loud, but it does draw the eye.

He doesn’t always go formal though, as even when picking up an award at the GQ Men of the Year ceremony, he loosens the tie and goes a bit more casual. Still, however, he sticks to the darker colours that suit him, and the while the colour of the tie is muted (we’re going to call it eggplant), it does add a splash of life to the suit.

Appearing on Jimmy Fallon, he swaps his ususal crisp white shirt for a blue open collar number, a shade that works incredibly well with his fair hair. The key is the fit, and as is the usual, Fassbender’s gear is perfectly tailored. In order to get that look, it’s our job to spend the time trying on clothes, looking for the shapes and sizes that will flatter us best, whether that be getting a slim fit, regular fit, or even splashing the cash a bit and getting something adjusted to make sure it gives us a chance of making an impeccable first impression.

When he goes casual, he doesn’t stray far from the colours we’ve already seen him wear when he’s on the red carpet. The jeans are a slim fit, tapered at the ankle, which gives a fitted look to his whole outfit. The shawl neck black jumper and blue shirt once again draw on that same palette that he knows works for him, which gives him the ultimate confidence that his outfit works. Looking even more relaxed, he pairs a looser fitting pair of chinos with a dark, plain granddad top to great effect, a look that’s hassle free and easy to pull off. Any colour of chinos, even brighter shades during this Autumn/Winter season, can work well with a look like this, or pair them with a blazer and shirt for another easy style that will grab attention.

Jack & Jones have a collection of perfectly tailored jeans and chinos, from skinny to regular fits, that will match that look, and their Vintage range has a series of classic pieces that will capture that Fassbender style, at ease with himself and with a range of basic and understated essentials.
