Swedish blokes make a stand over uniform restrictions… by wearing skirts

A group of male train drivers and conductors in Sweden have taken to wearing skirts in protest over their employer’s uniform restrictions....

For the past two weeks, 13 male drivers on the Roslagsbanan line, north of Stockholm have been wearing skirts to work because their employer, Arriva, has removed shorts as part of the company guidelines. 941413_10151458579507862_34981443_n So how does Arriva feel about some of their best men turning up to work in skirts? Apparently, they’re fine with it... how progressive of them. Speaking to the BBC, one of the train drivers in question, 30-year-old Martin Akersten (pictured), said, “We have always said that when summer comes, we will get some skirts and wear them. It's very warm weather here so we would like to wear shorts but if we can't then we have skirts for comfort.” Not for kicks? Yeah right, Martin. 941631_10151470129157862_152183605_n However, Arriva seem wise to the plan and have said that they’re okay with the lads wearing skirts as telling their males employees otherwise would be discrimination. "Our thinking is that one should look decent and proper when representing Arriva and the present uniforms do that. If the man only wants [to wear] a skirt then that is OK," Arriva communications manager Tomas Hedenius told Swedish newspaper Mitti. 983733_10151461744672862_2017470459_n "To tell them to do something else would be discrimination." Sure the Scots having been doing this for years... but something tells us the Scandinavians rock the "airy ball"s look a bit better. 954827_10151466912377862_1906794889_n Pics via Facebook
