Want to prepare a cracking feast of tapas at home for the lads? You have to have some chorizo sautéed in red wine.

JOE

Want to prepare a cracking feast of tapas at home for the lads? You have to make sure you have these on the menu.

Don’t let anyone tell you that tapas are not a real meal. The sheer wealth of options that are presented to you either in Spain or in a tapas restaurant mean that you have zero excuse to not only find many, many delicious things to eat, you should also be stuffed to the gills afterwards too.

And while you may be more than willing to try tapas when on a weekend city break in Spain, you may be more reluctant to try to recreate that Spanish vibe at home. We’re here to tell you there is nothing to be afraid of, and it is easy to prepare a feast fit for a night when the lads pop over to watch the football.

Steak is always a popular option on any menu and just because you are having  tapas at home night doesn’t mean that it has to off the agenda. But you can’t just serve up a big slab of beef either. Like all tapas, you need to present it simply, with a hint of finesse and bags of flavour.

That’s why Pepito Solomillo is perfect. Essentially translated as a small steak sandwich, you can make it is wild or as simple as you like. The basics couldn’t be easier. Get some nice sirloin steak and chop it up into large bite-size pieces.

Rub in some salt and garlic and lash them on the pan for a few minutes (the grill is good too) until perfectly cooked. You can add some extra garlic  to the oil if you wish.

Make sure you have some tasty little buns to hand to serve and then it is up to you what else you add. Add some jamon for extra flavour, add some Spanish cheese for some creamy goodness, add some salad to bring some crunch or just eat it straight up; you really can’t go wrong.

One of these won’t be enough for anyone as they are so tasty so make sure to make quite a few of these, there definitely won’t go to waste.
