Teresa Mannion is becoming an internet sensation all over again.
Believe it or not but it has been nearly two years since Teresa Mannion’s famous “don’t make unnecessary journeys” speech at the Salthill Promenade in Galway.
All credit to Mannion, it was an extremely brave, hard and serious report to do but at the time people found it hilarious and couldn’t get enough of it and remixes and parody videos were made in its honour.
Even now, we still have to release a little chuckle when we watch her report from the end of the world.
Hurricane Irma has seen the RTÉ journalist spring back into the spotlight and on Monday both Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent posted videos on Instagram of one of the parody videos which sees Mannion getting hit by a stop sign during her live report (the clip was originally created by Gerard Walsh).

These posts didn’t go unnoticed by the Dancing With The Stars dancer who took to Twitter to tell the two music stars that she was okay…

Speaking to JOE, Teresa Mannion couldn’t believe that the videos were back in the limelight again.
“People kept sending me texts saying that the video was doing the rounds again and then Perez Hilton was talking about it and I started getting even more messages today.
“Every time I think it’s died down, it gets oxygen again from somewhere. It bewilders me that it keeps attracting a reaction.
“It’s annoying at times, especially when you’ve had a bad day and someone says it to you while you’re working but it is hilarious and I can’t really complain.
“In all seriousness though, flooding is such a serious matter and we came across it ourselves a few weeks ago in Donegal and Derry and that showed that it can cause devastation.”
Storm Desmond may have gone but stop signs and unnecessary journeys in Salthill will never fade away for Mannion.
