The Beast of Craggy Island from Father Ted might actually be a real thing

Relax, it only has eyebrows on Saturday

Paul Moore

Relax, it only has eyebrows on Saturday.

There are times when the world of Father Ted seems too close to reality but I’ve always been fairly certain that the legend of ‘The Beast of Craggy Island’ was a lie.

Hudd Hastings claimed that it was “as big as a jaguar” while Mrs Doyle thinks that it’s some “sort of a giant fox”.

The Beast

Father Dougal described ‘The Beast’ perfectly though by saying that “it lights up at night and it’s got four ears, two of them are for listening and the other two are kind of back-up ears. Its claws are as big as cups and for some reason, it’s got a tremendous fear of stamps”.

Take a look at the full description.

It appeared that Father Ted Crilly put an end to these ludicrous rumours though after he exposed the sinister plot that was schemed by Fargo Boyle and his lackies during their blatant attempt at perverting the 1996 ‘King of the Sheep’ competition that Chris ultimately won.

Despite this apparent closure, we were always wary about hearing the sound of ‘Liam Neeson chasing a load of hens around the inside of a barrel’ on the Moors.

It seems that ‘The Beast’ has moved from Craggy Island to Plymouth though because locals have spotted ‘a big cat that’s not native to the U.K’.

Local resident Carole Desforges spotted ‘The Beast’ and told The Metro that “I guess it remains a mystery. I enjoy the speculation about it all. I don’t know what it is, but people have been suggesting that it could be some kind of big cat.”

Having read this story, there’s only one suitable reaction to express.
