Live like a king for a little over €100 a night.

It’s not often one gets the opportunity to have a castle all to themselves without having to break the bank for the privilege, but in Ireland, you can do just that for a price that won’t burn too big of a hole in your pocket.

Airbnb have just released a list of the most wishlisted homes by country and top of the list when it comes to Ireland is a medieval castle in Craughwell in Galway that’s currently listed for €130 a night.

Built sometime in the 1400s but refurbished in the last decade, the castle is comprised of a master bedroom upstairs, with access to the turret (a small tower at the top of the castle), a living room and dining room, two guest bedrooms and some storage rooms.

The host, Peter, has spent the last ten years refining and refurbishing the castle, which is located a short drive from Galway city (approximately 25 minutes) and less than an hour from Shannon Airport.

The castle can host five guests and though it’s not perfect – it has quite a lot of stairs, guests will require a car to access it and will have to use a bath downstairs when they need to have a wash – it does offer the rare opportunity of spending a night or even a week in fairly unique accommodation that’s top of the wishlist in Ireland for good reason.

This being the holiday season, it’s no surprise that, at the time of writing, the castle currently isn’t available to rent again until January 30 and for information and to check out some of the spectacular photos, you can access the listing on Airbnb here.
