The pubs and hotels that serve the best carvery dinners in Ireland have been revealed

Conor Heneghan

These places have served more carveries than you’ve had hot dinners.

The carvery dinner has long been a staple part of an Irish person’s diet; indeed, the thought of a meat and veg dinner of a Sunday afternoon often helps a man or a woman get through the week.

Like the arguments over pubs that serve the best Guinness, we’re sure that you can’t see your local pub or hotel when it comes to the best carvery, but the crème de la crème have been singled out in the Great Carvery Pub of the Year and the Great Carvery Hotel of the Year awards.

Yes, they exist.

Well-known rugby referee Nigel Owens was on hand to present the awards at the Grand Final at the Herbert Park Hotel in Dublin earlier this week, with The Heights Hotel in Killarney and The Elm Tree in Glounthaune, Cork coming out on top as the best hotel carvery and pub carvery respectively.

There were also provincial awards handed out to hotels and pubs in Wexford, Roscommon, Donegal, Dublin, Mayo and Derry, while you can check the list of nominations in full below to see if your local pub or restaurant made the cut.

Anyone else starving all of a sudden?
