After months of spouting nonsense about tiger blood and ‘Winning’, Charlie Sheen finally got his comeuppance during last night’s Comedy Central Roast. Here’s what you missed.

By Emmet Purcell

1. Seth MacFarlane reads out Sheen’s obituary

One of the most-viewed clips before last night’s broadcast was Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane’s gloriously bad taste obituary to Sheen, as he admitted that he “actually just copied Amy Winehouse’s obituary.”

“I only had to change three things, though: the sex of the deceased, the location of the body and the part that says, ‘a talent that will be missed.'”

2. Jeffrey Ross asks if Charlie will be there for his kid’s 12 steps

A fixture of every Comedy Central Roast, and with good reason, Ross showed up in an outrageous Muammar Gadaffi outfit and the jibes to match his crazy attire. Our personal favourite line was when the comic asked Sheen, “The only time your kids get to see you is in reruns – don’t you want to live to see their first 12 steps?’

3. Steve-O breaks his nose after jumping into Mike Tyson’s fist

The description is pretty much exactly what happened. Fulfilling a promise from earlier on in the night, the Jackass star waited until the credits were rolling before flinging his face in the direction of the legendary boxer. Not a great idea, we’re sure you’ll agree.

4. Anthony Jeselnik nails the most controversial line of the night

Comic Anthony Jeselnik landed one of the biggest blows of the night, telling Charlie, who replaced Michael J Fox for his first TV foray in the sitcom Spin City, “the only reason you got on TV in the first place is because God hates Michael J Fox. The Back to the Future actor had to permanently leave the show after being struck with Parkinson’s Disease. Bad man Anthony, bad man.

5. Charlie: “I told my boss to f**k off”

Charlie closed out the Roast with a surprisingly touching speech, in which he declared that he was only ‘Winning’ because of the love of his family.

Recalling the past craziness of a turbulent year, he got one of the biggest audiences of the night by declaring: “I did porn stars, I did drugs, I had my own TV show and then I did what all the people in America wish they could do – I told my boss to f**k off.”
