According to RTÉ, and pending clear weather conditions, the occurrence should be visible to all Irish citizens, without the need of any special equipment to view the spectacular vision.
Astronomy Ireland has asked people who do see the shooting stars on Thursday evening to make note of how many they spot in 15 minute intervals, while returning with the information.
The natural wonder is set to happen as dust particles from Halley's Comet travel through the Earth and cause an estimated increase of ten times the number of meteor showers.
