These 3 Irish men are doing an incredible thing for a trio of charities

Tony Cuddihy

Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, the Irish Cancer Society and Pieta House will hopefully benefit from the work of these three men.

Darragh Grace, Sean Cheasty and Chris Breheny are planning to cycle home to Ireland from Istanbul this summer, self funding a trip that will take them on a trip of more than 3900km, across one continent and nine international boarders.

They will camp in 11 different countries and see nine capital cities… all in six weeks.

“We each have very personal for choosing our respective charities and as such we each want to develop a greater insight into the conditions, how they’re viewed, their impact on individuals and their impact on society,” Darragh tells us.

“While we have some experience of the conditions in Ireland, what we would really like to see and document is the experience of the conditions in other countries.

“My own focus will be on the experience of mental illness, while Chris will be focusing on cystic fibrosis and Sean on cancer.

“Over the course of the trip we are hoping to meet people involved in health services in Turkey, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, France and the UK. While we also hope to meet and interview people who have experienced mental health difficulties, CF and cancer to get an insight into their experience of both the condition and the help afforded to them.”

“Our intention is to document our journey and the people we meet on film and in writing, to share our experiences and those of others on our trip – we’ll be posting everything on our Facebook page here.”
