The cost of renting in the capital.

One of the perks that comes along with living beside a rail line is the shorter commute to work but it seems that this is an expensive luxury for people that live in Spenser Dock, Dublin.

Average rent in the area, which lies between the IFSC and across the Liffey at Grand Canal Dock, is the most expensive in Dublin at an average of €1,800 a month.

Here’s the average rent prices for the areas that lie on the Luas red line – Saggart to The Point.

As for the areas on the green line – Stephen’s Green to Brides Glen – it seems that renters are paying 14% more for accommodation, according to this study undertaken by Daft.ie.

Good news if you happen to be renting in an area that’s next to a DART line, you’re paying slightly lower on average but specific areas are quite high. Dalkey (€1,743), Lansdowne Road (€1,722), Sydney Parade (€1,721) and Grand Canal Dock (€1,684) being the notable inclusions.
