Variety, convenience and the ability to indulge one’s sheer laziness are just some of the reasons why takeaway meals sometimes just can’t be beat. Here are some of the JOE team’s favourites.

Adrian: “I’m a big fan of Crispy Chilli Chicken from Camile in Rathmines. Camile make some pretty delicious and authentic Thai food, and it’s not all that unhealthy either.

“You can get brown rice, the prawn crackers are also really tasty with a hint of spice, and the crispy chili chicken always tastes fresh and you know they’re using good quality ingredients. Plus, there’s enough in the servings to get two meals out of it, so you can have lunch the next day too.”

Conor: “For me you can’t beat sweet and sour chicken with fried rice from Diep at Home in Drumcondra. A touch of Thai food has really helped expand my previously very countrified taste buds.”

Oisin: “The single tastiest take-away in Dublin (that I’ve come across so far, at least) has got to be the Honey Chilli Chicken from China Town Take Away in Lucan.

“The dish blends hot chilli chicken pieces with a tantalisingly sweet honey sauce for the perfect sweet and spicy dish. The only problem is, you know all about it the next morning!”

Big Dave in accounts: “I don’t eat Pizza Hut as much as I used to (that weight around the belly doesn’t lose itself, you know) but I still like to devour a Chicago Classic pizza whenever I get the chance.”

Declan: “There is nothing I enjoy more than being transported back into a Persian paradise while sorting out my hunger in Zaytoon. Whether it is a tasty kebab or a scrumptious burger, not only I am physically satisfied from the top notch cuisine, mentally I am taken to a different place in the comfortable and relaxing surroundings.”
