This Kerry lad needs a bit of help buying a plane ticket to go and see his girlfriend in America

Paul Moore

Good luck to him.

Anyone that has ever been in a long distance relationship will know that they’re always hard but at least some cheap flights has made it easier to see your partner in London, Paris, Madrid etc. Spare a though for this teenager from Kerry named Shane though because he’s looking for a bit of bob  to go over and see his girlfriend Madeline in Boston.

Madeline, 18 years old from Boston, visited Kerry last September with her family and – in typical teenage holiday romance style – fell madly in love, Shane, after they met in Garvey’s Supervalu in Dingle.

The love-struck couple have even set up a GoFund Me account and here’s their story:

“This past September while I was visiting family in Ireland on vacation, Shane and I met. We spent a few days together exploring his small town of Dingle until I had to leave. We thought that we would never see each other again but realized that even months later as we continued to keep talking that we had to.

This February, Shane flew from West Kerry, Ireland, to stay with my family in Massachusetts for a week, and this only affirmed my love for him. Although it was amazing, the week ended far too soon. We have been trying to make plans to see each other this summer but between airfare and other expenses, it does not seem likely that Shane will be able to make it back to America.

Shane and I both work a lot during the school year and the summer, so we understand the value of hard work and earning money, but between this and saving before we leave for college, it seems near impossible that we can make this summer work. We hope that people will be inspired by our story and dedication to one another and want to donate to our little love campaign. Anything can help, and we appreciate all of the support we have been receiving from our friends and family- monetarily but especially emotionally. We understand that this may seem a little silly but it would truly make our summer”.

The story even made the national airwaves and here’s hoping that Shane can head over to see his girlfriend on the other side of the Atlantic.
