The Macaroni and Cheese Pie is here in Ireland and now we can’t think about anything else

Forget about spinach, protein bars and cabbage soup for five minutes and give some thought to the more decadent side of life.

A classic option, for instance, would be the chip sandwich; golden, crispy chips nestled in buttered fresh white bread. Taco fries or nachos both pull their weight too.

Now, however, Marks and Spencer have unveiled a serious contender for the ultimate comfort food.

Ladies and gentlemen, may we introduce… the Mac ‘n’ Cheese & Bacon Pie.

The concept of combining deliciously gooey mac ‘n’ cheese with the crust of a pie originates from Scotland, and it was a recent trip to Edinburgh that inspired the M&S food team to create the new dish.

To make it especially moreish it’s topped with (wait for it) a smoked bacon crumble.

“Mac ‘n’ cheese is the ultimate in comfort food and we’ve taken it a step further by putting it in a pie for a truly indulgent treat.” says Matt Dawson, pie product developer.

“It’s a first on the high street and we’re sure customers are going to love it as much as we do!”

You reckon, Matt?

The Mac ‘n’ Cheese & Bacon Pie (€4.50) is available in M&S stores now. We’ll be picking one up on the way home from the gym…
