This man is doing a 20km swim and cycle on Christmas Day in a Santa costume for Temple Street

Tony Cuddihy

Paul McGuinness is the hero we all need.

The DCU student is just one of a number of participants taking part in 100minds, a charity initiative that is teaming up with Temple Street Children’s Hospital to fund a new satellite classroom for St. Gabriel’s Ward, which specialises in neurosurgery and craniofacial surgery.

Paul, a third year business student, is raising money by both holding a non-uniform day in a secondary school, and taking part in a 20km swim and cycle on Christmas morning.

“I have managed to get my hands on a number of prizes which I am going to raffle off to one lucky person who has donated a minimum of €5, and for every €5 donated your name will be entered into the hat again and again (twice if it’s €10 etc…),” he told JOE.

You can visit Paul’s profile page and donate here.

Every year, as part of 100minds, over 120 students from across Ireland are picked and challenged to raise €1,000 in 100 days in creative and entrepreneurial ways.

Each student is mentored by a successful recent graduate from companies like Google and LinkedIn.

Best of luck to everyone raising funds this year.
