This Tinder technique greatly increases your chances of getting a reply

Alan Loughnane

For those of you who ain’t got game…

Are you struggling to make a meaningful mark on the dating app? This could be a handy little tip for you.

When you get the original match on Tinder with the girl of your dreams, the work is only half finished, you then have to woo her with that rugged charm which you stole from a rom com we know you possess.

The first message is crucial, if you’re boring; she might not reply, if you’re too forward; she might not reply, if you’re perfectly charming and hilarious; she might not reply.

Don’t be like this though…

But according to Tinder themselves, if you send a GIF as your first message on the app, it increases your chances of getting a reply by 30%.

Conversations which begin with a GIF also last twice as long as those which start with a text or emoji.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Tinder co-founder and senior vice president of product Jonathan Badeen said: “GIFs allow people to better say what they want to and express emotion, which is something that’s really difficult to do in text alone.”

“It opens up people to start more conversations and to break the ice.”

So there you have it, next time you’re struggling for a witty line to impress your potential love interest on Tinder, forget about it. They don’t want to listen to your sh*te talk, send them a GIF instead.

Apparently, these two GIFs were the most successful for replies…
