This trick makes it easier to spot a liar apparently

Just say yes

Paul Moore

Just say yes.

We all lie. That’s just a universal truth but I genuinely think that telling a little white lie can be much better at times than telling the truth outright.

Don’t believe me? Ok, would you ever tell your boss that you were late for work because you had a few drinks last night, got rat-arsed drunk and couldn’t even find your own shoes in the morning?

No, the standard ‘sorry but my bus was late’ is much more acceptable on this occasion.

It’s also not an thing to spot a liar but a former FBI agent named LaRae Quy believes that paying close attention to a persons use of the word “no” in a conversation can be a tell-tale sign if they’re telling a few porky pies.

Quy was speaking with Lifehacker and revealed that all of these are attributes of liars;

  • Saying “no” and looking in a different direction
  • Saying “no” and close their eyes
  • Saying “no” after hesitating
  • Saying “noooooooo” and stretching it out
  • Saying “no” in a singsong manner

I don’t know about you but I’m eager to go all Jack Bauer on my mates and interrogate them. They’re hiding something from me!
