A couple in the UK who painted their cottage a bright shade of pink have been ordered by the local council to repaint it a “less vibrant colour”.

Owner Ann Kennedy was denied retrospective planning permission by Teignbridge District Council, saying any re-painting needed consent, though she says that the 17th century cottage had “always been this shade of pink”.

The BBC report that the council have given the homeowners three years to paint the house a “less vibrant” colour, with one councillor claimed it was not “in keeping with the village”.

Another councillor did add that it was all a bit of a “storm in a tea-cup”, which shows that there was some level of common sense prevailing.
