Introducing Time to Shine, where we’ll be celebrating the power of confidence

We’ll be looking for young people who have achieved success by overcoming a lack of confidence.

In an age where social media plays such a huge role, it can be easy to fall into the trap of not believing in yourself. To show you what’s possible with a little bit of confidence, we’re teaming up with Wrigley’s Extra to show how anything is possible with a little bit of confidence.

No matter your current circumstances, there is a way to overcome them. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to put out the call for young people who overcame every obstacle in their way to achieve their goals.

Whether your dream is to become a professional DJ or a YouTuber, we want to hear all about it.

One example of someone who overcame her own self-doubt on the way to success is Róisín Whelan, a young up-and-coming spoken word artist. With the help of mentor Melissa Ridge, she now has the ability to back herself in a creative outlet that demands both inner and outer confidence.

Melissa is a co-founder of Boundless & Bare, a company set up to promote the Irish spoken word scene. Spoken word is a performance art where people express themselves through speaking poetry and monologues out loud, and has been getting more and more popular every year.

You have to be able to stand out, which isn’t exactly easy when you doubt your own ability. We could think of no one better to help Róisín improve her skills as a spoken word performer.

We’ll tell you more about Roisin’s phenomenal journey another time, but for now just keep an eye on our site for more about this campaign. One of the next things we have planned is to put out the call for young people with stories similar to Roisin, and give them a chance to share it with the rest of us.

We’ll keep you posted…

There’s confidence inside all of us and with Extra at your side, you can let that confidence out. Time to Shine.
