You would think that there is little worse than drinking a severed toe from a shot glass. How about being charged $500 for the ‘pleasure’?
For those not familiar with the unusual tradition in Dawson City, Canada – we weren’t until we heard the toe-curling story – the Yukon ritual involves someone drinking the Sourtoe Cocktail and having the toe touch their lips, without swallowing it.
An acquired taste we hear you say, but one tourist really put his foot in it when he accidently swallowed the toe and was hit with a subsequent fine by the hotel. A cool $500 fine.
Heel know next time, that’s for sure.
