“If it goes from making you look like an armpit to Brad Pitt why not learn to use it?”

Going to the barbers is a hugely common event to most men. The hair is getting a little out of control and the time has come to head down to your regular barber to work their magic.

You hope to leave that barbers with a strut in your step and a glint in your eye.

The latest hair care brand to hit the market is FRANKMAN. Founded by Gill Blake-Swift and former Connacht Rugby player Michael “Swifty” Swift, they want to give you that “just out of the barbers” look with minimal effort.

Basically, it’ll make sure you always look damn good.

Warren Flynn of The Dublin Barber

Have attitudes changed towards hair care among Irish men? We spoke with expert barber Warren Flynn to get his take on it. Some of you will remember Warren for being an absolute legend a few years ago when he went around giving free haircuts to the homeless.

When asked about trends, he told us “Styles range these days in 2018 going into 2019. Overgrown crop-cut haircuts with tapered locks are back on a lot of top magazine covers but there is always the classic parted haircut slicked back look. Whether it’s loosely styled or not that’s a classic that will never go away.”

On men taking more care of their appearance, he said “Yes, definitely can see men old and young starting to look after themselves more. They are investing into skincare and hair care products.”

Many of us simply aren’t sure which hair product to use, but do you know who would? A guy who does it for a living.

“A good consultation with your barber will give you an understanding of what can and cannot be done with your hair. They take into account the natural growth patterns and should advise you on what suits you best according to your facial structure and features,” he said.

“But also, they’ll tell you how to style your hair and what product to use. It’s 2018 so don’t be acting manly saying you’re not using a hairdryer. If it goes from making you look like an armpit to Brad Pitt why not learn to use it?”

When asked about Irish hair-care company FRANKMAN, Warren said that it is great to see Irish companies coming to the fore. Everywhere else has had access to top quality products for years, so isn’t it about time we started to do the same?
