The book will be told from the perspective of Edward Cullen.

A new Twilight book is on the way, author Stephanie Meyer has announced.

Midnight Sun will be a retelling of her bestselling Twilight novels, but from the perspective of vampire/heart throb Edward Cullen.

Cullen was played by Robert Pattinson in the movie adaptations.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Meyer said: “I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on 4 August.

“It’s a crazy time right now, and I wasn’t sure if it was the right time to put this book out, but some have you have been waiting for just so, so long, it didn’t seem fair to make you wait anymore.”

Midnight Sun was originally supposed to publish in 2008, but its release was cancelled when the manuscript was leaked online.

An unfinished version was posted online, but the final product will be released for the first time in August of this year.

Writing on her website, Meyer said: “As soon as I finished my real work, I sat down and let Edward get his say. When a story demands to be written, there’s no way to resist. And the more I wrote, the more I became convinced that Edward deserved to have his story told.”
