A great tribute to one of the true greats of Irish radio.
It’s a rare and wonderful thing to see the people of Twitter in universal agreement with one another.
Such an event took place today, however, as the Twitterati paid their respects to the late Tony Fenton, who sadly passed away last Thursday and whose funeral took place in Dublin this afternoon.
In a magnificent gesture, Irish radio stations all united together to pay tribute to Fenton by organising to play one of his favourite songs, Aretha Franklin’s ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ at 2.30pm.
It was a gesture that went down very well this afternoon with Irish Twitter users, who took to the opportunity to pay their own tribute to the man often affectionately referred to as ‘The Dude’.
Sleep well Tony.

We radio types all like to think we will be universally celebrated when we pass, we know we will not.
That was for Tony Fenton.
