A great achievement for the businesses.

Two Irish restaurants have been named among the 50 best pizzerias in Europe.

Dough Bros in Galway and Cirillo’s restaurant in Dublin were both named in the 50TopPizza online guide to the best Italian and European Pizzerias.

Cirillo’s on Baggot Street has been named as number 16 on the list while Dough Bros at O’Connell’s pub in Eyre Square in Galway came in at number 21 on the rankings.

The results are based on a survey following an anonymous judging visit and were announced online from Milan on Tuesday night at a virtual event due to Covid-19 restrictions.

“The service is precise and cheerful, and the organization for home delivery and take-away is impeccable,” 50TopPizza judges commented about Dough Bros.

Meanwhile, Cirillo’s was branded the best pizza in Dublin by judges of the competition.

“The atmosphere is more like that of a pub than a pizzeria, but there is no doubt about the product,” 50TopPizza judges said of Cirillo’s.

“The pizza is remarkably like the traditional Neapolitan pizza, well risen and, more importantly, well baked.”

Owner James Cirillo said: “This is a huge achievement for Cirillo’s and particularly welcome right now.

“We take great pride in the quality of our ingredients and to have that acknowledged is wonderful.”
