If you’re getting advice, best to get it from the experts.
The summer is approaching, which means for a certain group of students, a very fun few weeks and months are ahead of them.
Those who are travelling on their J1 to the States might be getting equal parts nervous and excited about making the trip, but travel experts USIT have provided their top tips for anyone that might be making the journey.
Checking in for you #J1 #flight soon? Here are some top tips to help you on your way!
1. Check in 48 hours before your departure. You need your booking reference and surname. All information for checking in is on your eTicket— USIT (@UsitTravel) May 28, 2018
2. When you arrive to the #airport, queue up at the check-in desk to drop your luggage
3. When transiting in a European or US airport your luggage will be looked after by the airline

Meanwhile, we’ve been looking at the weather report for the States this week, and we’re immediately jealous.
While Ireland can expect highs of 24 degrees, New York will be getting up to 30 degrees, Boston will get up to 28 degrees, Los Angeles will reach 27 degrees, Chicago is predicted to get as high as 31 degrees, New Orleans tops out at 35 degrees, Las Vegas will hit 39 degrees (do students do their J1 in Las Vegas? Discuss) and San Francisco… well, they’ll barely get up to 18 degrees, but then again, San Francisco is never really known for the great weather, is it?
