VIDEO: Game of Thrones cast visit refugee camp in Greece, slam Western leaders

Carl Kinsella

Game of Thrones cast members Maisie Williams, Lena Headey and Liam Cunningham visited refugee camps in Greece last week and offered a scathing view of how the west has dealt with the crisis.

Speaking about western political leaders Cunningham, from Dublin, said that he’s like to grab them by the back of the neck, take them into a refugee camp and say “Look what you’ve done.”

Maisie Williams, famous for playing Arya Stark on the hit HBO show, offered a similarly withering critique of the situation saying “They want to go home, but they can’t because we’ve destroyed it.”

The trio called on Western leaders to do more, in particular relaxing border controls to allow more refugees into Europe.

Cunningham spoke of meeting oncologists and lawyers in the camps, and Williams laughed derisively at the attitude that prospective university students who have been forced out of their homeland are coming to the west in order to take from us.
