And while carrying 200 tonnes of wood. No big deal.
To some drivers, performing a three-point turn in a small car in a half-empty car park is a worrying prospect, never mind having to do one while driving a truck high up on a mountain where the tiniest mistake will probably result in you crashing to your death.
According to the Daily Mail, the turn you see executed in impeccable fashion in the video above is carried out by Austrian truck driver Joachim Held twice a day almost every day and he is so accustomed to it that he barely thinks anything of it at this stage, saying: “I have done this so many years that it’s second nature now.
“I can understand why people find it scary,” he added.
We can imagine Joachim’s reaction on the first day he had to perform the turn when his supervisor said something to the effect of ‘Just turn her around on that incredibly narrow ledge there, as long as you stop her a couple of millimetres from the edge it’ll be grand’ but he’s been driving trucks for over 20 years at this stage so he knows well what he’s at.
We’d rather him than us, just watching the video has given us the heebie-jeebies.
Hat-tip to Colm Coughlan for sending this one our way
