This French bloke claims he set a ‘world first’ after landing a wingsuit jump on water with no parachute. We’re a tad sceptical to be honest…

Even though this video has viral marketing written all over it, it supposedly shows us Raphael Dumont’s impressive wingsuit jump from Lake Garda (Italy) on September 30th 2013.

According to the description on YouTube, Raphael has trained in BASE jumping and wingsuit flight for many years, he is a professional with over 600 successful flights to date and the jump was performed under professional supervision.

“The flight and subsequent landing have been planned for several years with absolute attention to detail and safety at all times. The theory and calculations behind the landing have been based on the trajectory and approach of a plane landing. Please do not attempt wingsuit flying or to recreate such a landing as it is highly dangerous.”

It might be highly dangerous, but it also seems highly impossible. Bare in mind we’ve seen a lot of ‘fake videos’ here in JOE over the years and the shaky landing footage seems too good (or not good enough, as the case may be) to be true. Also, with “over 600 successful flights to date” you’d think Raphael would be easy to find on the internet, but he appears to be non-existent.
