VIDEO: Bride at Galway wedding gets huge surprise as wedding cake turns out to be a cake jumper

Eoin McLove would be disgusted at this sort of carry-on.

Getting the right wedding cake is an important task for a couple in the lead-up to their big day.

Only a few people will actually eat the cake, of course, but everyone will see it, pass comment on it and take photos of it so you want to make sure you choose something distinctive that will leave lasting memories.

Darren Lavelle, from Ballyvary in Mayo, married Carol Hynes from Craughwell in Galway in the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry earlier this month and knowing how big of a Father Ted fan she is, Darren planned a big surprise for Carol when they went to cut the cake.

Sister of the bride, Imelda Canning (Sister Imelda!), tells us that Father Ted was something of a theme throughout the wedding, with Father Red quotes at the tables and Mrs. Doyle serving tea (see above), but the biggest surprise of all came when Carol and Darren went to cut the cake.

The cake was made by a friend of the couple, Fiona Kelly, who, in an unusual move, baked a small jumper in the cake.

Thankfully, Carol enjoyed it a little more than Eoin McLove did.

Where was someone to shout “Fu**ing hell” when you needed them?

Cheers to Imelda Canning for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102, [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
