VIDEO: Carlow man raises bar for romantics everywhere by making epic movie trailer to propose to girlfriend

Wow

Conor Heneghan

The rest of us may as well give up now fellas.

A marriage proposal is an important event in many a man’s life and some go out of their way to make the event as special as possible.

But we can’t see anyone topping what Carlow man Brian Cashin did recently to propose to Hazel Coogan, his girlfriend of eight years.

A TV editor by trade, Brian, who worked on Canadian Big Brother while living in Canada and Ireland’s Fittest Family amongst other projects here, organised a private cinema screening for just himself and Hazel, where he was going to pop the question.

Included amongst the trailers at the screening was one made by Brian himself, an eight-minute cinematic trip down memory lane complete with the coup de grace at the finale, the marriage proposal itself.

Speaking to JOE today, Brian said: “I had the idea to start making the video about six years ago and started filming random bits and pieces for it through the years.

“More recently, I started editing the video every night when she went to sleep and did that on most nights for about five to six months.

“Hazel had no idea, she pretty much only realised what was going on when she saw herself on the screen and then she nearly died!”

So to recap, Brian started working on his wedding proposal video SIX years ago. And here’s us struggling to agree with the other half where to spend New Year’s Eve…

Cheers to Brian’s cousin, Robert O’Neill, for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102, [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter
