Video: Check out the teaser for the final episode of Neil Delamere’s Holding Out For Hero

Poor TG4 never catches a break...

The final episode of Neil Delamere’s incredibly interesting, and wonderfully funny, Holding Out For Hero airs next Monday, 22nd December, but before then here’s a taste of what’s to come.

Monday’s episode takes a look at the pirate queen of Connaught, Gráinne Mhaol who was named the ‘most notorious woman in all the coasts of Ireland’ by the Lord Deputy of Ireland, Henry Sidney, back in the 16th century.

According to historical reports, and Neil, she was a fearless leader by land and sea, a political pragmatist, a rebel, a ruthless plunderer, a mercenary and a matriarch.

In fairness, she makes Neil look like a bit of a wuss. So naturally, he wants to know how she did it.

In order to find out, Neil follows the guidance of a band of angry pirates by taking to the sea in a replica 16th Century galley. He also gets to taste a few 16th Century “delicacies” that Gráinne might have enjoyed while dining in her many castles – castrated cockerel anyone?

No? Just Neil so…
