There was a time when all candidates for Student Union elections had to do to get some votes was to buy a few pints in the College Bar.
Now, it seems that everybody campaigning for any position in a Students’ Union has to produce a fancy campaign video to go with it and in fairness, there have been some cracking efforts so far.
The latest features Iarla Carty, a Mayo man with a passing resemblance to Conor McGregor, using McGregor as the inspiration behind his campaign to run for Education Officer in DCU.
After showing that he’s got the moves and the style to match McGregor early in the video, Iarla uses the rest of it to make a number of clear and important points about what he’ll bring to the table if elected.

Unfortunately for fans of ‘The Notorious’ in DCU, an all-expenses paid trip to catch McGregor v Jose Aldo in Vegas this summer is not part of the package.
