Video: Derek Cullen returning home after cycling across Africa for charity

The Dubliner, who suffered from anxiety, started his 11,000km journey last year.

Having lost both of his parents to cancer, Derek decided cycle home to Ireland from Cape Town and began his adventure in October last year.

Riding for the children’s cancer charity Aoibheann’s Pink Tie without any prior training or professional cycling expertise, Derek cycled across 11 countries before finally reaching the Egyptian pyramids earlier this week.

Derek had planned to fly to Canada from Cairo but, given the response to his adventure on social media, he has decided to cycle 1,500km from his current location in France back to Dublin.
