This week the Everton and American stopper produced one of the finest displays of goalkeeping we’ve ever seen…

Tim Howard is a hero in the United States after he turned into a one man human force-field during last night’s World Cup last 16 game against Belgium. The US did end up losing the game but it would have been more only for Howard, who did everything in his power to stop them as the Everton man produced save after save.

The previous highest number of saves in a World Cup game was 13 but Howard broke that by making 16 saves last night and here they all are in a neat little video…

Howard has been trending on Twitter since the game last night, Belgium’s Vincent Kompany paid a class tribute. The hilarious #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave has also been trending and some photo-shop geniuses have been getting creative…

The performance is one that will live long in our memory and you know you’re a big deal when your wikipedia page gets a positive re-edit.

The viewing figures for the USA World Cup games in the States have been absolutely enormous so Howard is now one of the most recognisable faces in the country. He’s going to be everywhere for the next few weeks and some people are even suggesting he becomes part of the currency…

Tim Howard has been in the Premier League for the last 11 years so we’re all well aware of his abilities and it now nice to see the rest of the world see it too. He seems to be getting better and better with age so Everton fans must be pretty chuffed right now, we can’t wait to see him in action again.

Tim Howard is a hero.
