While the weekend’s F1 race at Monza was a tad boring, we did get to see the brand new thermal-cam working for the first time.

F1’s new thermal-cam was in action at the weekend’s Grand Prix in Monza, Italy, but not for long as it was attached to the Force India of Paul Di Resta (mistake no.1).

Sadly for Di Resta, he crashed on the first corner of the first lap sending his car and the thermal cam back to the pits for an early retirement. Luckily for tech-savvy racing fans the thermal cam did capture the incident which looked pretty interesting.

The thermal camera was supposed to show the temperature changes in the car’s tyres as it drove through the different high-speed corners at the famous racing track and we’re sure it would have looked great, had Di Resta not crashed on the first corner.
