Video: Greenpeace cleverly trolls Shell at the 2013 Belgian Grand Prix

Say what you want about the polar bear saving, tree hugging, smelly haired hippie types from Greenpeace, but the prank they pulled at the 2013 Belgian Grand Prix was priceless.

Say what you want about the polar bear saving, tree hugging, smelly haired hippie types from Greenpeace, but the prank they pulled at the 2013 Belgian Grand Prix was priceless.

The lads from Greenpeace aren’t too happy with the big oil-drilling corporation that is Shell, for obvious oil-drilling reasons, so they decided to deploy their famous guerrilla-marketing techniques at this year’s Belgian Grand Prix.

As the drivers stood on the Shell-sponsored podium and as the national anthems we’re being played the guys from Greenpeace raised two electronic banners that featured their SaveTheArctic.org cause.

According to the video, the pranksters from Greenpeace managed to sneak the banners in prior to the race and the whole thing cost less than €140.

Some are saying that it was disrespectful of the environmentalists to pull the stunt during the national anthems, but you have to hand it to them for pulling it off in the first place.

The best part is when you’re man takes down the first banner and thinks to himself, ‘Thank Jaysus that’s over…’ only for the other banner to pop up. Brilliant…
