The lads at Honda UK recently decided to stick one of their 1000cc motorbike engines into a lawnmower and the end result certainly isn’t your average grass cutter…

Honda’s ‘Mean Mower’ can reach a top speed of 210km/h and can hit 0-100km/h in just four seconds. That’s faster than most cars on Irish roads today…

While the idea of making a super-high-powered lawn mower isn’t new, a super-high-powered lawn mower created by a major manufacturer certainly is. Check out the promotional video from Honda, featuring British touring car champion Gordon Shedden, below…

Honda actually got some help from their touring car partner, Team Dynamics, and from the lads at Top Gear (which explains a lot) when they took a stock Honda HF2622 mower and turned into a grass-eating beast.

The Mean Mower looks the business, but while it looks exactly like a regular mower, there’s actually a lot more going on than meets the eye. The grass bag conceals a fuel tank, a high-capacity oil cooler and a secondary radiator. The Mean Mower has also been given new wheels and new suspension from an ATV.

Having said that, the Mean Mower can still cut grass up to speeds of 24km/h, which, according to Mashable, is twice the speed of Honda’s regular lawnmowers.

If this has you itching for a Mean Mower all of your own you can check out Honda Ireland’s selection on ride on mowers over here, but don’t go thinking you’ll get yourself a 210km/h beast, as the mean machine costs around €58,000 and will not be mass produced for VERY obvious safety reasons.
