VIDEO: Irish teenager/genius gives an incredible TEDx talk about solving the global food crisis in pyjamas

Carl Kinsella

She’s some genius.

Ciara Judge is a young woman from Kinsale who has previously won the BT Young Scientist, the European Union Contest for Young Scientists and the Google Global Science Fair, so it’s safe to say that she is smarter than the rest of us combined.

She gave a TEDx talk last month while wearing her pyjamas, discussing how she and her two friends converted her bedroom into a science lab in order to research the bacteria rhizobium on the yield of various crops.

Their research helped them plant barley that yielded a harvest 75% bigger than expected – a development that could prove crucial as the world’s population grows by the billion.

Listen to why Ciara Judge wants her generation to be Generation Y-Not?
