As part of the 7Up Free Uplift your summer campaign, JOE took to the streets of Dublin to find out about our standout memories of the Community Games.

Not all of us budding athletes got to grace the hallowed turf and track of Mosney when we were younger, but the Community Games formed and still forms an integral part of the youth of many Irish people.

Whether you were gunning for individual glory in a race, participating in a team event or simply standing by and watching it all in from the sidelines, the Community Games were a great event to bring a village or a town together and help foster community spirit.

As part of the 7Up Free Uplift your Summer campaign, we took to the streets to discover the standout memories people have of the community games and got some interesting answers, not least from the poor fella who got whacked with a sliotar on a freezing cold day, a pain that has little equal in any sporting arena.

7Up Free is asking people to submit what will uplift their summer. They will be giving away lots of prizes throughout the summer for the best entries. To be in with a chance to win people can enter via Twitter using the hashtag #upliftmysummer or enter via Facebook or the website www.7up.ie. Whether they want a weekly Friday ice cream to brighten their day or tickets to one of the hottest festivals in Europe, the 7Up Free team might just make it happen!
