VIDEO: Limerick man plays a guitar made from a hurley and it sounds brilliant

Colm Boohig

We want one.

There’s nothing like whipping out your hurl at a house party and playing some classic riffs to get the crowd going. Of course, it’s usually air guitar and we’re often then told to please leave, without causing a fuss.

Anyway, Limerick man Mike Hogan is the real deal and lived the dream here when having a bash at the Dashstick – a guitar made out of a hurley, which is on sale in the Limerick music store he works in, Steamboat Music.

Here he is demonstrating the sound and it really is quite something. Have a listen…

JOE got in touch with the owner of Steamboat Music, Mark Carey, who explained the background of the Dashstick: “They’re made by a guy in Sligo called Robert Naczas and they range in price from €399 – 499 (€399 in Steamboat Music).”

We certainly wouldn’t mind a go.

Pretty flippin’ sweet.
