Whether it was jet skiers, Salthill swimmers or opportunistic kite surfers, the emergency services learned that there are only so many ways to urge people to stay indoors when hurricane-force winds are ripping the country apart.

And so to Tramore in Co. Waterford during the height of Monday's storm.

A lone gentleman decided to strip down to his bare essentials and straddle a roadside monument, because... well, let's be honest, we've no idea why and something tells us he wouldn't do it twice.

If anyone out there ever thought of doing something this stupid, we have seven important words: Wind burns where the sun doesn't shine.
