A massive crash between two seriously powerful and seriously expensive endurance cars brought racing to a halt at the 2014 Rolex 24-hour race over the weekend.

The red flag incident occurred just three-hours into the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona over the weekend and it had a lot of people concerned over the well being of the two drivers involved, Memo Gidley (Gainsco #99) and Matteo Malucelli (Risi Competizione #62). Gidley, racing in the #99 Daytona Prototype, attempted to undertake the yellow and blue #65 Ferrari 458 Italia seen in the video above, but unbeknownst to him the red #62 Ferrari of Matteo Malucelli was having issues and moving very slowly along the left hand side of the track. When Gidley moved left to pass the yellow and blue #65 Ferrari, he hit the back of the red #62 458 Italia at full speed and in what can only be described as one horrific crash. Thankfully, both drivers managed to survive the impact, but both remain under supervision at the Halifax Health Medical Centre near the track. According to reports, Gidley suffered from gashes to his left arm and leg along with an unstable fractured vertebra, while Malucelli remains under observation with a cerebral concussion.
