Video: News anchor interrupts important interview with congresswoman to report on Justin Bieber arrest

For a minute there we thought that something important had actually happened.

For a minute there we thought that something important had actually happened.

Maybe it’s a sign of how mad the world has become or maybe we’re just completely out of touch but the reaction to the arrest of Justin Bieber yesterday, in our eyes at least, was just a little bit over the top.

The teen singing sensation was arrested yesterday for drag racing on Miami Beach and is believed to be have been a bit of a pain in the ass to deal with, initially resisting arrest and shouting guff at police officers, whom he later told that he had been drinking, smoking pot and taking prescription drugs.

Obviously Bieber is going to get a lot more attention than your average 19-year old, but there was an overwhelming level of coverage surrounding his arrest yesterday (and yes, we realise the irony of us contributing to that overwhelming coverage), from Bieber actually being tagged in a tweet reporting his arrest by the Miami Beach Police to an MSNBC news anchor interrupting an interview with a congresswoman live from Switzerland to report on his arrest.

Normally interviews such as these are only interrupted in extreme circumstances and we don’t think a teenager being arrested for being a bit of an ass falls under that category, but like we said, maybe we’re out of touch.

Mad stuff Ted.
