VIDEO: Teenagers surprise homeless people in Dublin with Christmas presents in fantastic act of generosity

Conor Heneghan

What a brilliant gesture.

The homelessness crisis in Ireland has been the subject of much-needed attention in recent weeks and particularly hits home at Christmas, when many won’t be lucky enough to spend it with their families and friends and with a roof over their heads.

Thinking of those less fortunate at Christmas time, two young guys from Bettystown in Meath, Conuil Scallon and Jack Phelan, both 18, decided to spread some festive cheer by surprising homeless people in Dublin with gift bags made up of useful items such as hats, gloves, socks, food and water.

The generous gestures from the two lads were very much appreciated by the recipients of the gifts too.

Fair play to Conuil and Jack; at this time of year, help like this is appreciated more than ever.

Cheers to Kevin Gildea (the cameraman) for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
