The following incident (which kicks off around the
15-second mark) occurred back on June 18 near the Bunratty exit of the N18 and it features a Mercedes Benz driving down the wrong side of the road towards oncoming traffic at a fairly fast pace.
According to the
Irish Examiner, “the alarm was raised at 9.30am when gardaí received numerous calls from motorists reporting a vehicle travelling the wrong way along the N18 Limerick to Galway dual-carriageway.”
The driver caused two separate crashes on the N18 involving three different cars, but luckily, none of the innocent drivers were seriously injured in the incident.
The car eventually changed over to the correct side of the N18 before heading off on the M18 towards Shannon. Gardaí caught up with the driver after he drove into a cul-de-sac near Crusheen and he was quickly arrested.
According to reports, the man was transferred into the care of the HSE following questioning in Ennis Garda Station.
