Electric cars aren’t really catching on as quickly as a lot of people had hoped, but how could they when there really isn’t much on the market to choose from. BMW is looking to change that with their all-new, all-electric i ranges and judging by the i8, the German automaker is onto a winner…

Here’s what the company had to say on YouTube: “With its fascinating holistic concept, the BMW i8 brings the vision of a modern and sustainable sports car to life. The highly-emotional design immediately makes it clear what qualities the BMW i8 has to offer.
“Dynamic proportions show off its acceleration potential even when it’s standing still; and yet it doesn’t rely on being a pure-blooded sports car. Its aesthetics always follow a functional goal: for example, more aerodynamics for maximum efficiency and absolute performance.”
The new i8 is reported to go from 0 to 100kph in just 4.4 seconds, but that comes at a price. The car will be entering the US market at $135,925 (€102,500), so it’s an awful lot of cash just to go fast and save the polar bears at the same time.
