From funk-fused bands to funked up bikes, the team at FunkedUp are Irish innovators with style, vision and a plan to take over the world.
Take it easy Dr Evil. They’re not doing it with sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads, they’re doing it with bikes.
Brilliantly bespoke*, badass bikes.
Dubliners Andrew O’Casey and Olaf Moore have been best friends since they were 12 years of age and in 2011 they founded FunkedUp, a company full of young and creative group of individuals who are unbelievably passionate about bikes.
With over 25 BILLION style and colour combinations to choose from (trust us, we counted them), their tailor-made two-wheelers are unique single speed and fixed gear bikes.
Not content with just creating brilliant bikes, FunkedUp are also producing The Hero Series, a mini-video series to show off the raw, creative, talented people who exist below the radar here in Ireland; people like designers, cycle messengers, graffiti artists, actors and more – all creative folk doing what they love.
Up first is Johnny O’Byrne, a cycle messenger on the streets of Dublin.
It’s your life. Make it for you. Oh, and watch this video while you’re at it…

Bikes just like Johnny’s are designed by FunkedUp here in Ireland, and the company have international factory partners in Taiwan (where the best bikes in the world are build), and they then stock, assemble and ship the completed bikes from Dublin to locations all over the world.
FunkedUp firmly believe that style or customisation should never compromise product quality and, as a result, the company already boasts an impressive customer list that includes the likes of Irish rugby stars Rob Kearney, Andrew Trimble and Jamie Heaslip,
That’s right, this is a bike that can support the gargantuan frame of Ireland’s Number 8, so you know they’re definitely doing something right.
Their celebrity endorsements don’t stop there, however, and singer Sam Smith and Juun even used four super-cool FunkedUp bikes in their music video for ‘When It’s Alright’.

Although they’re an Irish company, over 95% of FunkedUp’s business is export-based, and the company actually gets most of their customers from major cities around Europe, including Paris, Berlin and Copenhagen, relying on the positive testimonials of their customers to spread the good word.
Not bad for a company which started off in the back of a rented old building in Dublin 8.
In spite of this international flavour, FunkedUp is a company that’s fiercely proud to be Irish and they want to show it, putting their Irish personality and passion into everything they do.
Their ultimate goal is to make an Irish impact on the world stage and to put Dublin on the map as a city with a creative, raw passion and talent for urban products.
